Experimental shipment of dangerous goods for export to China

Railship Service became the first transport company that Sibur Holding entrusted to carry out a trial experimental shipment of dangerous goods “expandable polystyrene” for export to China.

Polystyrene is a unique material, one of the most important products of the synthetic industry. It is used in the production of packaging materials for food products, disposable tableware, food containers, toys.

The transportation of polystyrene is classified as hazardous transportation, and the material itself in the form of granules is classified as hazard class 9, since it is flammable and emits highly toxic fumes during combustion.

Reasonable scheme of packing and cargo location

Reasonable scheme of packing and cargo location

The Railship Service team specially developed a scheme for filling and positioning cargo in a container, which was agreed with the departure station. Each container contained 32 big bags, with a total weight of 28.5 tons.

Also, all the necessary approvals were carried out with Russian Railways, the Maersk sea line and other participants in the transport chain so that this dangerous cargo was accepted for transportation.

19×40 foot containers were sent by rail from the Sibur-Khimprom plant in Perm to the port of Vostochny, and from there by sea to Shanghai.

We are grateful to Sibur Holding for their trust.
